Free production tools

Everything here answers a question a client has actually asked us on a call. No sign-up and no email gate. If a tool needs your address before it will do arithmetic, it was never really a tool.

The bandwidth calculator answers the question that decides whether a livestream holds: how much sustained upload speed the venue actually needs. You put in the resolution, the frame rate, the codec and whether you want a redundant second stream, and it gives you one number to write into the venue contract. A speed test from an idle Sunday shows a peak. This tells you what the circuit has to sustain on the day, with four hundred people on the guest wifi.

The storage calculator answers the question that ends shoots early: how many cards do we need, and can they keep up. You put in the codec, the resolution, the camera count and the hours the cameras are rolling, which is always longer than the show, and it gives you card space in decimal gigabytes, the way cards are sold. It also tells you the sustained write speed the cards need, because a card with room left on it will still drop frames if it cannot hold the bitrate.

Both tools run in your browser and send nothing anywhere. If the answer raises a bigger question about your event, the venue questions on the resources page are the list we work from before we quote a room.

Something you wish existed

We build these when the same question comes up a third time. If you have hit one we have not covered, tell us what it is and we will look at it.
