MULTI-CAMERA PRODUCTION

Every angle, cut live.

One camera records an event. Several cameras, cut live by a technical director, produce a broadcast. AVP.Live plans the camera positions, staffs the operators, and switches the show in real time, so the audience always sees the shot that matters.

  • TD-led live switching
  • Camera plans matched to the room
  • Operated + PTZ coverage

What it is and why it matters

Multi-camera production means several cameras feed one switcher, and a technical director chooses, live, which shot the audience sees. The result is a program: wide when context matters, tight when a face matters, cutting on the action instead of after it.

Why it matters is simpler than it sounds. A single camera forces one compromise for the whole event. Frame wide and every speaker is a speck. Frame tight and you miss everything outside the frame. Audiences trained by television notice within seconds, even if they can't name what's wrong. A switched show removes the compromise, and it removes it live, which means there is no "we'll fix it in the edit" and no waiting weeks for a watchable version. The stream that goes out is the finished product.

The craft is in two places most buyers never see. First, the camera plan: how many cameras, where they stand, and what each one is responsible for. That plan comes from the room, the sightlines, and the event, not from a package tier. Second, the cutting itself: a technical director who knows the run-of-show, anticipates the moment, and has the next shot ready before it's needed.

How we run it

The camera plan comes first

During the walk-through we map the room: where the action lives, where audiences and sightlines constrain us, where power and cable paths run. Every camera gets a position and a job. A ballroom keynote, a wrestling meet, and a graduation each produce a different plan on purpose.

Operated where it counts, PTZ where crews can't stand

Human operators carry the storytelling shots. Robotic PTZ cameras cover balconies, tight corners, and positions a tripod would block. Most of our shows blend both. More on PTZ systems

A technical director calls the show

The TD has read your run-of-show, rehearsed the transitions, and cuts with intent. Camera operators aren't guessing what to frame; they're directed, continuously, over professional intercom.

Comms make it one organism

Director, cameras, graphics, and audio share an intercom loop with real discipline about who talks when. That conversation is why cuts land on the beat instead of a second behind it.

Engineering underneath

Every camera path is planned as a signal: NDI or SDI matched to the run lengths and the venue, with the program feed recorded redundantly. Each show gets an engineering review before load-in. How we engineer a show

ISO recording when you want it

Beyond the switched program, individual camera feeds can be recorded separately, which gives an editor every angle after the event.

The gear

  • Cameras operated broadcast cameras with broadcast lenses and support.
  • PTZ systems robotic cameras with dedicated remote operation.
  • Switching production switchers scaled from compact flypacks to full multi-camera control.
  • Comms wired and wireless intercom for director, cameras, and operators.
  • Recording program and ISO recording, redundant on every show.

Where it shows up

Sports

Follow cameras, hero angles, and replay feeds, cut at game speed.

Corporate events

Town halls and launches where remote employees deserve better than a locked wide shot.

Conferences

Main-stage programs with speaker, screen, and audience coverage, plus breakout capture.

Ceremonies

Graduations where every family wants to see one specific face, clearly.

Where we use this: CorporateSportsConferencesEducation

AVP.Live produces switched multi-camera programs for sports, corporate, and civic events across NJ, NYC, and Philadelphia.

What happens after you request a quote

  1. A real person replies within one business day.
  2. A 15-minute call about the event, the room, and the audience.
  3. A free walk-through where the camera plan starts taking shape.
  4. A written plan and one price: positions, crew, and coverage, mapped.
  5. You book the date. The plan becomes our job.

Questions we get asked

How many cameras does our event need?

It depends on the room and what has to be covered, not on a standard package. A panel in a hotel ballroom might need three. A championship needs more. The walk-through produces a camera plan with a reason for every position, and we'll tell you if a camera you asked for isn't earning its place.

What does the technical director actually do?

The TD is the person cutting the show live: choosing shots, calling cameras over intercom, and executing the run-of-show. It's the difference between four recordings of your event and one program of it.

Do we get the recordings?

Always. The switched program is recorded redundantly on every show, and ISO recordings of individual cameras are available when your package includes them.

Can you cut between our podium camera or house system and your cameras?

Usually, yes. We integrate house feeds, presentation sources, and remote guests into the switch when the formats cooperate. The engineering review before the show is where we confirm it.

Live-switched or fixed cameras edited later: which should we buy?

If people watch live, switch it live; the stream is the product and it's finished the moment the event ends. If nobody watches live, a smaller capture plus editing can be the honest answer, and we'll say so on the first call.

Does multi-camera mean a huge crew in our space?

No. PTZ cameras and compact flypacks keep footprints small, and for recurring or distant events, REMI moves the control room out of your building entirely.

Do you travel?

Based in Freehold, NJ, producing across NYC and Philadelphia constantly. For the right event we deploy nationwide.
