AVP.Live

AUDIO PRODUCTION

Heard clearly, in the room and on the stream.

Audiences forgive a soft camera shot. They never forgive audio they can't understand. AVP.Live mixes live events as two distinct jobs, the room and the broadcast, because they are two distinct jobs, and treating them as one is why most streams sound like a phone in a gym.

  • Separate room + broadcast mixes
  • Dante audio networking
  • Wireless coordinated, not hoped for

What it is and why it matters

Here is the single most useful thing to know about event audio: the mix that sounds right in the room is wrong for the stream, every time. The room mix leans on the natural sound of the space; the PA only reinforces what the room can't carry. A broadcast viewer has none of that. They need a complete picture built from scratch: voices up front, crowd and atmosphere underneath, music balanced, nothing the room was providing for free.

Point a stream at the house mix, which is what most vendors quietly do, and the remote audience hears the leftovers: thin voices, booming low end, and a crowd that's either missing or deafening. This is the number one reason streams feel amateur even when the picture looks good.

The fix is dual-mix discipline: one mix for the room, a separate mix for the broadcast, each owned by someone listening to the right thing. That's what we build. When AVP.Live runs both, they share sources and planning, which is cheaper and tighter than two vendors. When a venue's house team runs the room, we take a feed and build the broadcast mix properly beside them.

And underneath the audible layer is the one the audience never hears: comms. Director to cameras, stage manager to back of house. We run professional intercom on our productions, because a show without working comms is a group of people guessing near each other.

How we run it

Source planning first

Every microphone, playback device, and feed is listed before show day: podium mics, lavs and handhelds, crowd mics, sports field mics, commentary headsets, walk-in music. Each one gets a path to both mixes.

Dante audio networking

We move audio over the network with Dante, the professional standard, which means dozens of channels travel one cable, reach both mix positions, and get recorded in multitrack without a copper spider web across your floor. Fewer cables, fewer failure points, cleaner rooms.

Wireless coordinated, not improvised

Wireless mics and in-ears live in crowded RF territory, and venues are full of surprises. We scan, coordinate frequencies, and plan channel counts in advance, which is why our lavs don't crackle when the doors open.

A broadcast mix position, staffed

On broadcast shows, an A1 mixes for the stream specifically: voices intelligible, crowd real but controlled, commentary balanced against action. This is a listening job. It gets a person.

Commentary and announce audio

For sports, we build announce positions with broadcast headsets, mix-minus returns so announcers hear the show without hearing themselves late, and levels that survive a screaming finish.

Recorded in multitrack

Broadcast audio is recorded multitrack wherever the show warrants it, so post-event editing starts from stems, not from a baked stream.

The gear

  • Consoles digital mixing for front-of-house and broadcast positions.
  • Networking Dante audio transport and multitrack recording.
  • Microphones podium, lavalier, handheld, instrument, crowd, and field mics.
  • Wireless coordinated wireless mic and in-ear systems.
  • Comms wired and wireless professional intercom.
  • PA speech-first reinforcement systems for the rooms we produce in.

Where it shows up

Corporate town halls and galas

Executives intelligible in the room and on the private stream, walk-ins and playback on cue.

Conferences

Main stage and breakouts, panel mics that all work, and a broadcast feed per room.

Sports broadcasts

Commentary, crowd, and the sounds of the game itself, mixed at game speed.

Ceremonies and civic events

Every name announced clearly, every motion audible in the record.

AVP.Live mixes room and broadcast audio for corporate, sports, and civic events across NJ, NYC, and PA.

What happens after you request a quote

  1. A real person replies within one business day.
  2. A 15-minute call about the event, the room, and every source that makes noise.
  3. A free walk-through, where the room tells us what it needs.
  4. A written plan and one price: inputs, mixes, wireless counts, crew.
  5. You book the date. The input list becomes our problem.

Questions we get asked

Why can't the stream just take the house mix?

Because the house mix is designed to add only what the room can't provide, and the stream viewer doesn't have the room. Fed to a stream, it sounds thin, boomy, and unbalanced. A separate broadcast mix is the fix, and it's the biggest audible upgrade most events can buy.

Can you work with our venue's in-house audio team?

Yes, and it's routine. The house team keeps the room, we take feeds and build the broadcast mix alongside them. We coordinate during the advance so show day has no turf questions.

How many wireless microphones can you support?

Enough for large panels, award shows, and multi-mic programs; the practical limit depends on the RF environment, which we scan and coordinate in advance. Give us the mic count early and we'll engineer to it.

What is Dante, and why should we care?

Dante moves audio over a standard network instead of one cable per channel. For you it means cleaner rooms, faster load-ins, both mixes fed from the same sources, and a multitrack recording, with fewer single points of failure.

Do you provide commentary audio for sports?

Yes: announce positions, broadcast headsets, and mix-minus returns, integrated with the broadcast mix and the intercom loop.

Do we get the audio recording?

Yes. The broadcast mix is recorded on every show, and multitrack stems are available when the package includes them, which makes later editing dramatically better.
